President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has issued a strong message of resolve, declaring that the Federal Government of Nigeria will never succumb to terrorism, banditry, or any form of criminal intimidation.

The President’s firm position was conveyed on Sunday by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, during the national interdenominational church service held at the National Christian Centre, Abuja, as part of activities marking the 2026 Democracy Day celebrations.

“The government of Nigeria shall never succumb to terror, banditry or any form of criminal intimidation,” President Tinubu declared. He reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to defeating insecurity, securing the release of all captives, and restoring peace across the nation.

President Tinubu emphasized that insecurity remains a major obstacle to Nigeria’s economic growth and development. He assured Nigerians that his government is intensifying efforts to strengthen the nation’s security apparatus while simultaneously addressing economic hardships facing citizens.

The President also appealed to young Nigerians to reject any involvement in thuggery, political violence, misinformation, ethnic abuse, or religious intolerance, urging unity and patriotism in the face of national challenges.

This renewed vow comes amid ongoing security operations aimed at routing out criminal elements and restoring normalcy, particularly in regions affected by banditry and terrorism. The administration continues to prioritize the safety of citizens and the protection of national sovereignty.
