U.S. military forces conducted a boarding operation on a commercial vessel suspected of attempting to violate the ongoing maritime blockade of Iranian ports, successfully ensuring compliance and preventing potential sanctions evasion or support for prohibited activities.
U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed that American personnel boarded the vessel following repeated warnings, in line with established rules of engagement and international law. The operation was carried out professionally and without incident to the crew, with the vessel subsequently released or redirected after verification that it would not proceed to Iranian ports.
“U.S. forces remain committed to the full enforcement of the blockade on vessels entering or leaving Iranian ports,” a CENTCOM spokesperson stated. “These actions are necessary to maintain pressure, uphold sanctions, and protect international maritime security amid heightened tensions in the region. Our operations are conducted with precision to minimize disruption while ensuring compliance.”
The blockade, part of broader U.S. efforts to counter Iranian aggression and destabilizing activities, targets vessels suspected of carrying contraband, evading sanctions, or providing material support to Iran. Since its implementation, U.S. forces have redirected numerous commercial ships, conducted multiple interdictions, and taken proportional measures including disabling non-compliant vessels when necessary to secure key waterways like the Strait of Hormuz.
This latest boarding underscores the U.S. military’s resolve to enforce the blockade across a wide area of operations, from the Arabian Sea and Gulf of Oman to broader Indo-Pacific waters where sanctioned vessels may operate. Humanitarian exceptions are maintained for approved aid shipments.
The United States continues to coordinate with international partners to safeguard global energy flows and freedom of navigation, while calling on Iran to cease provocative actions and engage constructively toward de-escalation and a lasting resolution.
