The President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has declared that the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu have substantial achievements to present to Nigerians ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking while receiving members of the Senate Committee on Tertiary Institutions, TETFund and NELFund, led by its Chairman, Senator Dandutse Mohammed, at his residence in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Akpabio expressed strong confidence that President Tinubu would secure a second term in office.

He stated that the President inherited an economy in shambles, noting that when the administration assumed office in 2023, 27 states were unable to pay workers’ salaries and pensions. According to him, the situation has since changed due to the President’s economic reengineering and innovative thinking.

“The current President has done a lot for Nigerians. He met an economy in shambles. When he came in, 27 states could not pay salaries and pensions, but today, the story has changed because of his reengineering and thinking out of the box,” Akpabio said.

“In 2027, Nigerians will separate the chaff from the grains and re-elect President Tinubu for a second term in office. We have a President who thinks outside the box, bringing about innovation. We will have something to tell Nigerians about the unprecedented achievements of Mr President at the campaign grounds.”

The Senate President highlighted the administration’s record in key areas including the economy, agriculture, security, education, and fiscal policy. He challenged opposition politicians seeking to unseat the President to present their own records in public office for comparison.

“Someone who is challenging him cannot even tell us what he did when he was governor. I can tell you what I did when I was the governor of my state. We will tell them a lot. Those in the opposition know too well the achievements of this government… but because they are in the opposition, they won’t say it,” he added.

Akpabio also pointed to the legislative accomplishments of the 10th Senate under his leadership, describing them as “giant strides.” He affirmed that the Senate would continue to collaborate with the Executive arm of government to deliver more benefits to Nigerians and urged senators who may not return to the 11th Senate to remain committed to the party and the success of the Tinubu administration.

The Senate President’s remarks underscore the APC’s determination to campaign on its record of performance as the nation approaches the 2027 elections.
