Chelsea Football Club confirms receipt of formal charges from the Football Association (FA) regarding 74 alleged breaches of agent and intermediary regulations spanning the period between 2009 and 2022. The majority of these charges relate to transactions conducted during the 2010/11 to 2015/16 seasons under the club’s previous ownership.

Chelsea FC wishes to emphasize that these matters were self-reported by the club’s current ownership group following a comprehensive due diligence process prior to the acquisition of the club in May 2022. Upon identifying potentially incomplete financial reporting and other regulatory concerns, the club proactively disclosed all relevant information to the FA, UEFA, and the Premier League.

“Chelsea FC is pleased to confirm that its engagement with the FA concerning matters that were self-reported by the club is now reaching a conclusion,” the club stated. “We have demonstrated unprecedented transparency throughout this process, including providing comprehensive access to historical data and documentation.”

The club has until September 19, 2025 to formally respond to the charges. Chelsea anticipates that any sanctions will be financial in nature, rather than sporting penalties such as points deductions or transfer bans, given the proactive cooperation and the historical nature of the breaches.
