The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced a strategic reorganisation of its workforce following internal investigations into acts of sabotage that threatened operational integrity. The company firmly denies reports of a mass layoff, clarifying that recent personnel changes are targeted and necessary to safeguard Nigeria’s largest industrial investment.
In a statement released by the Dangote Group, management confirmed that a limited number of employees were disengaged after being found complicit in activities that undermined refinery operations. The company emphasized that these actions were taken in accordance with due process and internal disciplinary procedures.
“We are committed to maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and integrity,” the statement read. “The refinery is a national asset, and we will not tolerate any form of sabotage or misconduct that puts our mission at risk.”
The reorganisation comes as the refinery ramps up production capacity, with expectations to meet a significant portion of Nigeria’s domestic fuel demand by year-end. The management reiterated its commitment to transparency, safety, and job creation, noting that the facility continues to employ thousands of Nigerians across various technical and administrative roles.
Industry observers have praised the refinery’s swift response to internal threats, viewing it as a sign of strong governance and operational maturity.
“This is not a mass sack,” said a senior company official. “It is a necessary recalibration to ensure that the refinery operates at full efficiency and in line with global standards.”
The Dangote Refinery, located in Lekki Free Zone, Lagos, is Africa’s largest oil refining facility and a cornerstone of Nigeria’s industrial transformation agenda.
