In a decisive move to strengthen the executive arm of government, His Excellency, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State, has officially transmitted the names of two distinguished nominees to the Kano State House of Assembly for confirmation as Commissioners.
Barrister Abdulkarim Kabir Maude, SAN-designate, a seasoned legal practitioner with over a decade of experience in corporate law, property management, and judicial proceedings. Maude, 40, holds multiple advanced degrees including an LLM in International Economic Law and a Master’s in Business Commercial Law. He is set to be inaugurated as a Senior Advocate of Nigeria at the Supreme Court.
Dr. Aliyu Isa Aliyu, Associate Professor of Allied Mathematics, currently serving as the Statistician-General and Director-General of the Kano State Bureau of Statistics. Dr. Aliyu, 41, is a globally recognized researcher with academic credentials from Bayero University Kano, Jordan University of Science and Technology, and Firat University in Turkey. He has held postdoctoral and adjunct research positions in China and Cyprus.
Governor Yusuf emphasized that the nominations reflect his administration’s unwavering commitment to competence, professionalism, and integrity in public service. “We are injecting youthful energy and proven expertise into our cabinet to drive sustainable development and restore public trust,” the Governor stated.
In a related development, the Governor also approved the appointment of Barrister Salisu Muhammad Tahir as the new Solicitor-General and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Justice. Tahir previously served as the Director of Public Prosecution and is expected to assume office on Monday, September 29, 2025.
