The United States Ambassador to Nigeria, Ambassador Kathleen FitzGibbon, has declared Abia State a promising destination for American investment, citing its dynamic entrepreneurial ecosystem, strategic location, and commitment to industrial growth.

Speaking during a high-level visit to Governor Alex Otti at the Government House in Umuahia, Ambassador FitzGibbon praised the state’s economic transformation efforts and highlighted sectors ripe for U.S. business engagement, including manufacturing, agriculture, renewable energy, and digital innovation.

“Abia State presents tremendous opportunities for American companies looking to expand into Africa,” said Ambassador FitzGibbon. “The state’s emphasis on transparency, infrastructure development, and support for small and medium enterprises aligns with the values and priorities of U.S. investors.”

Governor Otti welcomed the Ambassador’s remarks, reaffirming his administration’s dedication to creating a business-friendly environment. He emphasized ongoing reforms in governance, security, and public service delivery aimed at attracting foreign direct investment and fostering inclusive growth.

The visit also included discussions on potential partnerships in education, healthcare, and climate resilience, with both parties expressing optimism about deepening bilateral ties at the subnational level.

Ambassador FitzGibbon’s tour of Abia is part of a broader U.S. diplomatic initiative to strengthen commercial and development cooperation with Nigerian states outside the traditional investment hubs.
