The Jigawa State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing the socio-economic welfare of vulnerable citizens, with a particular focus on women, by expressing strong readiness to collaborate with individuals, philanthropic organizations, and development partners. This initiative aims to provide essential support through skills training, educational opportunities, and economic empowerment programs to uplift women and children across the state.
During a productive meeting held on Friday in Dutse, the state capital, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Hadiza Abdulwahab, engaged with representatives from the Society for Women Development and Empowerment in Nigeria (SWODEN). The discussion highlighted the government's ongoing efforts to prioritize social development and address the needs of vulnerable groups. "Jigawa State government is ever ready for collaboration with any individuals and philanthropic organisations toward supporting our vulnerable women across the state," stated Commissioner Abdulwahab. She emphasized the importance of fairness, transparency, and equitable distribution in beneficiary selection, urging partners to extend their initiatives to all 27 local government areas, including rural communities, to ensure broader impact.
SWODEN, led by Jigawa State Team Leader Adam Muhammad, outlined its mission to empower women through skill acquisition and trade development while facilitating educational support for children. Currently focused on the Birnin Kudu local government area, the organization seeks to expand its reach and expresses enthusiasm for partnering with the Ministry to advance women's empowerment and community development. Muhammad noted the critical role of such collaborations in fostering educational advancement and economic independence among vulnerable populations.
This partnership aligns with the Jigawa State Government's broader agenda to reduce poverty, promote gender equality, and build resilient communities. By working hand-in-hand with organizations like SWODEN, the state aims to create sustainable opportunities that enable women to contribute meaningfully to their families and society. Interested partners are encouraged to contact the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development to explore collaboration opportunities.
