The Osun State Government has officially reaffirmed its unwavering support for Deputy Governor Prince Kola Adewusi and Professor Wale Oladipo, former National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), following recent allegations of anti-party activities leveled against them by party stakeholders in the Ife Federal Constituency.
In a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi, the government described the controversy as a “family dispute” within the party and emphasized that both leaders remain “deeply loyal and committed stakeholders” whose integrity and dedication to the PDP-led administration are not in question.
The allegations stemmed from claims that Adewusi and Oladipo fraternized with Hon. Bimbo Ajilesoro, a former PDP member of the House of Representatives who recently defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC). A vote of no confidence was passed by 39 PDP leaders in the constituency, including two state commissioners.
Despite this, the state government has made it clear that the positions of both Adewusi and Oladipo remain intact. “By whatever yardstick, the Government still reposes strong confidence in Prince Kola Adewusi as the second in command to the Governor,” the statement read. Similarly, Professor Oladipo continues to serve as Chairman of the Osun State University Governing Council and a member of the PDP Board of Trustees.
Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration praised the swift intervention of the PDP state leadership and called for calm and restraint among party members. The government urged all stakeholders to allow internal mechanisms to resolve grievances and emphasized the importance of unity in advancing the state’s development agenda.
“This is not the season to celebrate a crisis,” said Deputy Governor Adewusi in a separate statement, describing the situation as “a storm in a teacup” and appealing for reconciliation and collective focus on governance.
