Former presidential candidate and Labour Party leader, Mr. Peter Obi, has strongly condemned the recent killing of security personnel in Nigeria, describing the act as “barbaric, heartbreaking, and a threat to national stability.” In a statement issued on Tuesday, Obi expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and extended his condolences to the families of the fallen officers.

“These brave men and women laid down their lives in service to our nation. Their sacrifice must never be in vain,” Obi said. “We must collectively denounce violence in all its forms and stand united against those who seek to destabilize our country.”

Obi emphasized the urgent need for the government and society to provide comprehensive support to the families of the deceased, including financial assistance, psychological care, and long-term welfare. He urged both federal and state authorities to prioritize the welfare of security personnel and their dependents, noting that such support is essential to maintaining morale and national cohesion.

He also called on citizens to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies in the fight against terrorism, banditry, and other forms of criminality. “Security is a shared responsibility. We must all play our part in building a safer, more peaceful Nigeria,” he added.
