Veteran journalist and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Chief Dele Momodu, has issued an urgent warning to the public regarding a scam operation involving impersonators posing as Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central in the National Assembly. The alert was shared via Momodu’s verified social media accounts on Sunday, October 12, 2025, following a personal encounter with the fraudulent scheme.

According to Momodu, the scammers reached out to him using a fake identity claiming to be Senator Natasha. He immediately blocked the number and contacted the real Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan to report the incident. He revealed that the same group had previously attempted to deceive media personality Japheth Omojuwa, indicating a pattern of targeting prominent Nigerians.

“Same nuisance called me, I immediately blocked the number, and called Senator Natasha on a familiar line to tell her some scammers were on the prowl… Lord have mercy…” Momodu wrote.

The scam reportedly involves impersonators soliciting favors or sensitive information while pretending to be the Senator. Momodu urged the public to exercise extreme caution and verify identities before engaging in any communication or transactions.

“This is a dangerous trend that must be stopped. I call on the authorities and telecom operators to track and prosecute these criminals,” he added.

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has not yet issued an official statement, but sources close to her office confirmed that she is aware of the situation and is working with relevant agencies to investigate the matter.
