The Edo State Government hereby announces the immediate removal of Dr. Maureen Ekhoragbon as Chairperson of the Edo State Senior Secondary Education Board. This decision, approved by His Excellency, Governor Monday Okpebholo, is part of ongoing efforts to reposition the state’s education sector for greater efficiency and impact.

In her place, the Governor has appointed Dr. Rita Otibho Erewele, a seasoned educationist and administrator, as the new Chairperson of the Board. The appointment takes effect immediately.

Dr. Erewele brings to the role over two decades of distinguished service in Nigeria’s education sector. She holds a PhD in Educational Administration and Planning, as well as a Master’s and Bachelor’s degree in Education from the University of Benin. Her career spans various leadership roles, including lecturer, education consultant, and senior education officer.

She is widely recognized for her contributions to policy development, teacher training, and curriculum enhancement, and has earned accolades for her commitment to academic leadership and reform.

While the government did not disclose specific reasons for the leadership change, it reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening the governance and performance of educational institutions across the state.

Governor Okpebholo expressed confidence in Dr. Erewele’s ability to lead the board into a new era of innovation and accountability. “We are committed to building a world-class education system in Edo State, and this appointment reflects our resolve to place the right people in critical positions,” the Governor stated.
