The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has officially launched the dualisation of the Apo–Wasa Expressway, a critical infrastructure upgrade aimed at reducing traffic congestion and improving mobility across the southern corridor of Abuja.

The project, which covers the Outer Southern Expressway (OSEX) from Ring Road I Junction to Ring Road II, was inaugurated by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, during a ceremony held in Abuja. Wike described the road as “very important,” emphasizing its role in alleviating the long hours commuters spend traveling from Apo and Wasa into the city center.

“You will agree with me that this road is very important. In fact, before the Apo to Wasa service lane was constructed, you can only imagine when you are coming into the city, how many hours it will take you. It was very horrible,” Wike stated during the event.

The dualisation project is part of a broader infrastructure transformation agenda being pursued by the FCTA under Wike’s leadership. The minister reiterated the administration’s commitment to delivering high-impact projects that enhance the quality of life for residents of the Federal Capital Territory.
