During a landmark address to the Israeli Knesset in Jerusalem, President Donald J. Trump declared that it would be “great to get a peace deal” with Iran, signaling a potential shift in U.S. diplomatic posture following recent military tensions in the region.

The statement comes in the aftermath of a brief but intense conflict earlier in 2025, during which the United States joined Israel in striking Iranian nuclear sites. Speaking to Israeli lawmakers, President Trump emphasized the importance of regional stability and expressed optimism about future negotiations. “They got it from one side, from the other, and you know it would be great if we could make a peace deal with them,” he said.

President Trump’s remarks were delivered amid celebrations over the release of hostages from Gaza and the announcement of a ceasefire agreement brokered by the United States, Israel, and Qatar. The President also unveiled plans for a “Board of Peace” to oversee reconstruction efforts in Gaza and promote long-term reconciliation.

Analysts note that Trump’s renewed overture to Tehran reflects an evolving strategy that balances “maximum pressure” with pragmatic diplomacy. While no formal talks have been announced, the President’s comments suggest a willingness to engage Iran under new terms that reflect current geopolitical realities.
