With hearts full of gratitude and reverence, the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association announces the passing of its beloved founder, Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai, who departed this life on October 6, 2025, at the age of 80. The announcement was made via his official Instagram page, marking the end of a remarkable era in Nigerian and global evangelism.








Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai was a towering figure in Christian ministry, known for his fiery preaching, prophetic insight, and unwavering commitment to the gospel of Jesus Christ. Over the course of six decades, he led countless crusades, healing services, and revival meetings that touched millions of lives across Nigeria and beyond.








Born on January 7, 1945, in Asaga, Ohafia, Abia State, Uma Ukpai rose to prominence in the 1970s and 1980s as one of Africa’s most dynamic evangelists. He founded the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association, a non-denominational ministry headquartered in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, and played a pivotal role in the establishment of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN).









His family, in a heartfelt statement titled “Glorious Transition”, described him as “a faithful soldier of the cross” whose life was marked by passion, integrity, and divine purpose. They expressed deep appreciation to God for the impact he made and the lives he transformed.








Rev. Ukpai is survived by his wife, Philomena Uma Ukpai, and their children. Funeral arrangements will be announced in due course, and the ministry invites all who were touched by his life to join in celebrating his legacy.
