The Conference of Civil Society for Transparency and Accountability has issued a strong statement condemning recent land allocation revocations carried out by the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.
The group alleges that the revocations appear to disproportionately benefit family members and associates of influential individuals, raising concerns about transparency and fairness in the administration of Abuja’s land resources.
The controversy follows a widely publicised confrontation between Minister Wike and naval officer Lt. A.M. Yerima over a disputed parcel of land in Gaduwa District. The incident, which drew national attention, has intensified scrutiny of the Minister’s handling of land matters in the capital.
“The integrity of Abuja’s land administration is at stake. We call on President Tinubu to act swiftly to restore public confidence and prevent further abuse of power,” the group declared.
The growing controversy underscores the need for transparent governance in land administration within the Federal Capital Territory. Civil society groups insist that only decisive intervention by President Tinubu can restore confidence in the system and ensure that Abuja’s land allocations serve the public interest rather than private gain.
