The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the re-election of Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo as the Governor of Anambra State following a decisive victory in the November 8 gubernatorial poll.
Soludo, representing the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), secured a commanding lead with 422,664 votes, defeating his closest rival, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who garnered 99,445 votes. Other contenders included Paul Chukwuma of the Young People’s Party (YPP) with 37,753 votes, and Dr. George Moghalu of the Labour Party (LP) with 10,576 votes.
The announcement was made by the State Returning Officer, Prof. Edoba Omoregie, Vice Chancellor of the University of Benin, who certified the results at the state collation center in Awka. Prof. Omoregie stated:
“I, Prof. Edoba Omoregie, hereby certify that I am the Returning Officer for the Anambra State governorship election held on November 8, 2025. I also certify that the election was conducted in accordance with the law and that Charles Chukwuma Soludo, having satisfied the requirements of the law and scored the highest number of votes, is hereby declared the winner and returned elected.”
The election was conducted across 5,720 polling units in all 21 local government areas of the state, with Soludo winning in every LGA, reaffirming APGA’s stronghold in the region.
Governor Soludo, a former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) governor, expressed gratitude to the people of Anambra for their continued trust and pledged to deepen reforms and development initiatives in his second term.
