Paystack, a leading Nigerian fintech company owned by Stripe, has announced the immediate suspension of its Co-founder and Chief Technology Officer, Ezra Olubi, following serious allegations of sexual misconduct.

In an official statement released to TechCabal, Paystack confirmed that Olubi has been suspended from all duties and responsibilities pending the outcome of a formal internal investigation. The company emphasized its commitment to maintaining a safe and respectful workplace, stating: “Paystack is aware of the allegations involving our Co-founder, Ezra Olubi. We take matters of this nature extremely seriously. Effective immediately, Ezra has been suspended from all duties and responsibilities pending the outcome of a formal investigation.”

The allegations surfaced earlier this week after Olubi’s former partner, Max Obae (known as Maki), publicly accused him of misogyny, abuse, and sexual exploitation. Maki claimed that Olubi manipulated feminist women by pretending to be gay, subjecting them to degrading rituals, and using financial control to maintain dominance.

The controversy intensified as decade-old social media posts from Olubi, dating between 2009 and 2013, resurfaced. These posts reportedly included sexually explicit remarks about colleagues and minors, further fueling public outrage.

Paystack has stated that it will not provide additional comments until the investigation concludes, citing the need to protect the integrity of the process and respect the individuals involved.
