Kenyan authorities have confirmed the arrest of three Nigerian nationals for alleged involvement in cyber related crimes and illegal residency. The suspects Peter Chukwujekwu, Alazor Chukulute Sunday, and Nnalue Chiagozie Samwel, were apprehended during a coordinated multi-agency raid at Mwaliko Estate in Mwea town, Kirinyaga County.

The operation, led by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), was initiated following reports from local residents about suspicious movements and late-night activities at the suspects’ rented apartment. Acting on the tip off, detectives launched a surveillance operation that culminated in the arrest of the trio.

Authorities believe the recovered items point to a sophisticated cyber-fraud network operating within the region. Preliminary investigations suggest the suspects may have been targeting financial institutions and individuals through digital scams and identity theft.

In a statement posted on the DCI’s official X (formerly Twitter) account, the agency emphasized its commitment to cracking down on transnational cybercrime and enforcing immigration laws. The suspects are currently in custody and will face charges related to cyber-fraud, unauthorized possession of financial instruments, and violation of immigration regulations.

The DCI urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities in their communities, reiterating that Kenya will not serve as a haven for criminal enterprises.
