The leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has become aware of speculative media reports and social media discourse regarding the potential replacement of His Excellency, Vice President Kashim Shettima, as the running mate to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the upcoming 2027 general elections.

The APC categorically dismisses these speculations as entirely premature, unfounded, and a distraction from the critical work of the Tinubu-Shettima administration.

At this pivotal moment in our nation’s development, the entire focus of President Tinubu, Vice President Shettima, and the APC is squarely on the successful implementation of the Renewed Hope Agenda.

The administration remains deeply committed to navigating the current economic reforms, enhancing national security, and delivering tangible infrastructure and social benefits to all Nigerians.

Party spokesperson, Mr. Felix Morka, stated: “These rumours are nothing but the handiwork of individuals more interested in political sensationalism than the progress and stability of Nigeria. The partnership between President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima is strong, productive, and focused on governance.”

“It is utterly premature and counterproductive to engage in discussions about an election that is three years away. Our party is united behind our leadership, and we will not be drawn into hypothetical conversations designed to create division.”

The APC urges the media and the public to disregard such unfounded speculation and to join hands in supporting the government’s ongoing efforts to build a more prosperous, secure, and united Nigeria.

Discussions regarding elections and party tickets for 2027 will be held at the appropriate time, through the official and democratic structures of the party, and in line with the nation’s electoral guidelines.
