Canada has deported 366 Nigerian citizens between January and October 2025 as part of a strong push to enforce immigration rules. This is the highest rate of removals in over ten years, according to official numbers from the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA).

The data, last updated on November 25, 2025, shows Nigeria as the ninth most common nationality for deportations this year. Nigeria did not appear in the top ten lists for 2023 or 2024 but returned in 2025 due to the increased enforcement. Nigeria is the only African country in these top ten groups.

Right now, 974 Nigerians are listed as "removal in progress," meaning they are waiting to be sent back home. This puts Nigeria in fifth place among countries with people awaiting deportation. The CBSA handles these cases as part of broader efforts to manage immigration and ensure rules are followed.

This news highlights Canada's tougher stance on immigration amid growing concerns over housing and security. Officials have not shared specific reasons for each deportation, but common causes include visa overstays or failed asylum claims.
