In a decisive action to protect American national security and combat international narcotics trafficking, President Donald J. Trump today revealed that U.S. forces have conducted a large-scale military strike in Venezuela, resulting in the capture of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores.

The operation, executed in coordination with U.S. law enforcement agencies, marks a significant step in dismantling networks linked to drug cartels and terrorism that have threatened the United States and its allies.

The strikes occurred early this morning, targeting key military installations in Caracas and other locations. Reports from the Venezuelan capital indicate multiple explosions, low flying aircraft, and power outages in affected areas.

President Trump shared the announcement via his social media platform, Truth Social, stating: "The United States of America has successfully carried out a large-scale strike against Venezuela and its leader, President Nicolas Maduro, who has been, along with his wife, captured and flown out of the Country. This operation was done in conjunction with U.S. Law Enforcement.”

This operation follows months of escalating pressure from the Trump administration on the Maduro regime, including a $50 million bounty for information leading to Maduro's arrest, announced in August 2025.

U.S. officials have long accused Maduro of involvement in narco terrorism, including collaborations with groups like Tren de Aragua and the Sinaloa Cartel to facilitate drug smuggling into the United States.

Maduro, who has ruled Venezuela since 2013, faces multiple criminal charges in the U.S., and his capture is expected to lead to extradition and trial on American soil.

Venezuelan Vice President Delcy Rodríguez has responded by issuing a statement demanding "proof of life" for Maduro and his wife, condemning the U.S. actions as an unlawful invasion.

The Venezuelan government has declared a state of emergency, and international reactions have been swift, with calls for an emergency United Nations meeting to address the crisis.
