In a recent interview, the player whose full name is Carlos Henrique Casimiro explained that the now-famous spelling "Casemiro" (with an 'e') originated from a simple mistake made by his boyhood club, São Paulo FC, during one of his early matches.

Casemiro shared: "My name is Carlos Henrique Casimiro, with an ‘I’ there, not 'Casemiro'. I remember that I played a game for São Paulo and the club got my name wrong. They wrote it with an ‘E’. I played really well in that game and as I’m a superstitious person, I said ‘No need to change it, just leave it like that, things are going well.’ So the name stuck, but my name is Carlos Henrique Casimiro. It was a mistake made in one game, the name stuck!"

The accidental spelling followed him through his illustrious career, including his trophy-laden spells at Real Madrid where he won five UEFA Champions League titles and his ongoing tenure at Manchester United, as well as with the Brazilian national team.

What began as a one-off error became a permanent fixture due to the player's superstition and success on the pitch after the initial appearance.

Fans and pundits have long referred to him as "Casemiro," making the revelation a light-hearted yet fascinating insight into one of football's most recognizable names. The midfielder has embraced the mix-up, turning what could have been a correction into a quirky part of his legacy.

This story highlights the unpredictable moments that can shape a player's identity in the beautiful game. Casemiro continues to perform at the highest level, proving that sometimes, even a misspelling can become legendary.
