As the holy month of Ramadan and the Christian season of Lent commence simultaneously this year an uncommon and significant convergence Nigeria's foremost leaders have united in calling on citizens to embrace the virtues of faith, sacrifice, and solidarity to foster national unity, peace, and stability.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, in a heartfelt message to Christians and Muslims, described the rare alignment of the two sacred observances as a divine reminder of shared values and common humanity. "This year, Lent and Ramadan begin on the same day. This is not a common occurrence, and it reminds us that as a people of faith, we share a lot in common and are one people under God," President Tinubu stated.

The President urged Nigerians to use this period of prayer, fasting, self-denial, and spiritual renewal to promote good neighbourliness, compassion, and harmony across religious lines. He further called on all citizens to pray fervently for the nation's progress, security, and overall well-being, emphasizing that the lessons and blessings of these seasons should endure throughout the year.

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar echoed similar sentiments, congratulating the faithful on the start of Ramadan and Lent. He encouraged embracing charity, reflection, self-discipline, and support for the less privileged, highlighting the seasons as opportunities for moral renewal and communal harmony.

Several state governors and other prominent leaders joined the chorus, issuing messages that underscored the need for peaceful coexistence, tolerance, and collective prayers for Nigeria's socio-economic and security challenges. Their appeals reflect a broad consensus among political figures that this shared period of devotion presents a powerful moment to strengthen national bonds and prioritize unity over division.

This convergence of Ramadan and Lent serves as a profound symbol of Nigeria's religious diversity and shared spiritual heritage.

Leaders across the spectrum have emphasized that by drawing on the principles of sacrifice, empathy, and devotion inherent in both observances, Nigerians can contribute to building a more peaceful, united, and prosperous nation.

The Presidency, alongside other leaders, wishes all observing Muslims a blessed Ramadan Mubarak and all Christians a meaningful Lenten season filled with grace, renewal, and divine favor.
