Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, has called on Muslims and Christians across the state to redouble their prayers for enduring peace, security, and stability in Borno amid ongoing efforts to rebuild communities affected by years of insurgency.

In a message coinciding with the holy month of Ramadan and the Christian observance of Lent, Governor Zulum extended warm felicitations to the Muslim Ummah on the sacred fast while acknowledging Christians participating in the Lenten season.

He highlighted the significance of these concurrent periods of spiritual reflection as a powerful opportunity for interfaith unity and collective supplication.

“I urge our Muslim brothers and sisters to dedicate this blessed month of Ramadan to intensified prayers for lasting peace, security, prosperity, and national cohesion in Borno State and across Nigeria,” Governor Zulum said. “At the same time, I appeal to our Christian brothers and sisters observing Lent to join in these prayers for peace and stability in our dear state.”

The Governor commended the progress made in reconstruction, rehabilitation, and the return of relative calm in many parts of Borno, attributing much of it to the resilience of the people, support from security forces, and divine grace. However, he stressed that sustaining these gains requires continued unity, tolerance, and spiritual commitment from all residents, regardless of faith.

Governor Zulum also encouraged citizens to extend compassion during this period by supporting vulnerable groups, including widows, orphans, internally displaced persons, and families impacted by the conflict.

“While physical reconstruction continues, collective prayers and peaceful coexistence remain vital pillars for a prosperous Borno,” he added. “Let us use these holy seasons to forgive one another, strengthen our bonds, and seek divine intervention for the complete restoration of peace in our land.”

The Governor reiterated his administration's unwavering commitment to collaborating with religious and community leaders, security agencies, and all stakeholders to ensure Borno remains a beacon of unity and development in Nigeria.
