Senate President Godswill Akpabio has called for the full exposure and defeat of individuals and networks sponsoring terrorism, kidnappings, and violent attacks across Nigeria, while urging citizens to remain hopeful and steadfast in the face of ongoing security challenges.

Speaking at an interdenominational church service held at the National Christian Centre in Abuja to commemorate Nigeria’s Democracy Day, Senator Akpabio emphasized the power of prayer as a vital tool in confronting insecurity. He drew from his experience as Governor of Akwa Ibom State, where he initiated monthly prayer sessions to tackle militancy, kidnapping, and killings.

“We must continue praying so that the evil doers and their sponsors shall be exposed in Jesus’ Name,” Akpabio stated. “If they are in government, they shall be exposed. If they are outside government, they shall be exposed. Those sponsoring it, whether it is politically motivated or not, may they never have peace until they are defeated.”

The Senate President acknowledged the pain and fear gripping many Nigerian communities due to persistent insecurity but reassured the nation of its resilience. He reminded Nigerians that the country has successfully overcome previous trials, including pandemics and political crises, and will similarly triumph over current security threats.

“Despite the challenges, we must not lose hope,” he affirmed, calling for national unity, continued prayers, and collective support for efforts to restore peace and security.

Senator Akpabio’s remarks come amid heightened national discourse on insecurity, with calls for stronger action against sponsors of violence regardless of their positions or affiliations. He reiterated that divine intervention and determined leadership will lead to the unmasking and prosecution of those fueling criminal activities.

The Senate remains committed to legislative measures that bolster national security, support the armed forces and security agencies, and promote good governance to address the root causes of instability.
