Peter Obi, prominent leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has called on all aspirants participating in the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) processes to accept the results in good faith, emphasizing unity, discipline, and collective progress ahead of future elections.

Speaking during the NDC NEC meeting held in Abuja, Obi stressed the importance of internal democracy while urging party members to prioritize the larger interest of the party and the nation over personal ambitions.

“As a party committed to building a new Nigeria, we must demonstrate maturity and sportsmanship. I urge all aspirants to accept the outcomes of this NEC process. Win or lose, we remain one family united by a common vision of good governance, equity, and national development,” Obi said.

He noted that the NDC is still in its formative stage and that internal cohesion is critical to presenting a credible alternative to Nigerian voters. Obi warned that any form of acrimony or rejection of legitimate results could undermine the party’s credibility and weaken the growing movement for change.

“Democracy thrives on acceptance of outcomes. Let us show Nigerians that we are different  that we can compete vigorously during contests and close ranks immediately after. No personal interest is bigger than the future of this country,” he added.

The former Anambra State Governor commended the NEC for conducting a transparent process and pledged his continued support for whoever emerges as the party’s leaders. He also called on all party faithful to focus on issue-based politics and grassroots mobilization rather than internal wrangling.

Obi reaffirmed his commitment to the ideals of the NDC and expressed confidence that the party would emerge stronger from the NEC deliberations.
