Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasir Idris, has announced the setting up of a high-powered committee to review the salary structure and welfare of primary school teachers across the state.The Governor made the declaration during an interactive session with primary school teachers, education secretaries, local government chairmen, and other stakeholders at the Presidential Lodge in Birnin Kebbi.According to Governor Idris, the committee will have 30 days to submit its report with recommendations on all issues affecting teachers’ salaries. 


He assured the teachers of his administration’s commitment to improving their conditions and ensuring the full implementation of the minimum wage.“I am going to inaugurate a committee that will look into the salary scale of primary school teachers across the state. 


The committee will be given 30 days to submit its report, and we will carefully consider its recommendations,” the Governor stated.Describing teaching as his core constituency, Governor Idris, who identifies as a teacher himself, emphasized: “This government belongs to you because I am one of you. 


I am still a teacher, and it was your support and votes that brought me to this position. I will not allow anyone to cheat you.”He urged teachers not to allow themselves to be used by detractors and called for continued collaboration for the development of the state.In addition to the salary review, Governor Idris pledged to introduce soft loan schemes for teachers, including car, motorcycle, and housing loans. 


He also directed local government chairmen to expedite ongoing salary adjustments for primary school teachers in their respective councils.This move highlights the Kebbi State Government’s dedication to enhancing the welfare of teachers and strengthening basic education in the state.Ends
