Afrobeats superstar Davido (David Adeleke) has strongly condemned the recent gun attack on Hon. Asimiyu Ajibola, Chairman of the Accord Party in Osogbo Local Government Area of Osun State. He called on all political stakeholders to resolve differences through votes rather than violence.
In a statement shared across his social media platforms, Davido described the incident as unacceptable and emphasized the need for peace. “The attack on the Chairman of the Accord Party in Osogbo Local Government by political hoodlums must be condemned and rejected by all,” he said. “Settle it with ballots, not guns.”
The attack took place on Wednesday night, June 3, 2026, around 9:50 pm in the MDS area near the Osogbo Community Bank axis. Suspected gunmen opened fire on Hon. Ajibola (also known as Baba Isila) and his companions while they were in a blue Toyota Corolla. The chairman sustained injuries and is receiving treatment at the Osun State University Teaching Hospital, Osogbo.
Davido, whose uncle Governor Ademola Adeleke is the Accord Party’s governorship candidate in Osun State, stressed that political rivalry should not lead to insecurity or attempts on lives. He urged the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and others to focus on winning through popular votes instead of intimidation.
“Everyone, irrespective of their political differences, should not contribute to insecurity. This murder attempt should be condemned by all,” Davido added.
He further called on security agencies to conduct a thorough investigation and ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice, reinforcing the protection of democratic principles and the safety of all political actors.
