The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State has celebrated its sweeping victory in the state’s local government elections, describing the outcome as a resounding endorsement of Governor Monday Okpebholo’s leadership and a strong foundation for future successes.
The Edo State Independent Electoral Commission (EDSIEC) declared the APC winner of all 18 chairmanship positions and all 192 councillorship seats contested across the state’s 18 Local Government Areas in the polls held on Saturday, July 11, 2026. Party leaders hailed the peaceful conduct of the election and the massive voter turnout as clear proof of the people’s confidence in the APC-led administration.
In a wave of renewed optimism, the Edo APC reaffirmed its commitment to delivering 2.5 million votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
“We are extremely proud of this historic victory,” APC leaders stated. “This clean sweep demonstrates the unwavering support of Edo people for Governor Okpebholo’s people-oriented governance. Building on this momentum, we proudly pledge and assure President Tinubu of 2.5 million votes from Edo State in 2027 as our own way of appreciating his love and support for the state.”
Governor Monday Okpebholo expressed satisfaction with the peaceful and successful conduct of the polls, attributing the victory to the APC’s commitment to grassroots development, improved security, and infrastructure projects that directly impact the lives of Edo citizens.
