In a significant demonstration of fiscal responsibility and transparency, the Jigawa State Pilgrims Welfare Board has fully refunded the sum of ₦3.4 billion advanced to it as a loan by the state government for the Hajj exercise.
The refund, which was returned to the state treasury, follows the successful completion of arrangements for the relevant Hajj operations. Governor Umar Namadi had earlier approved the ₦3.4 billion facility to enable the Board to meet its obligations and ensure smooth participation of Jigawa pilgrims.
The Executive Secretary of the Jigawa State Pilgrims Welfare Board expressed appreciation to the Governor for the timely support and reiterated the Board’s commitment to prudent management of public resources. “The refund of the entire loan amount is a clear demonstration of accountability and prudent financial management,” he noted.
This development underscores the commitment of the Jigawa State Government under Governor Umar Namadi to transparency, accountability, and efficient utilization of state resources in serving the people, particularly in religious affairs.
The state government commended the Pilgrims Welfare Board for its diligence and integrity in handling the funds, which has helped strengthen public confidence in government institutions.
The Jigawa State Government remains dedicated to supporting the spiritual well-being of its citizens while upholding the highest standards of governance and fiscal discipline.
