In a show of unity and party strength, Jigawa State Governor Umar Namadi officially presented the All Progressives Congress (APC) flag to Hon. Rabiu Muktar, the party’s candidate for the upcoming by-election in the Garki/Babura Federal Constituency.
The ceremony, held in Babura town, drew top government officials, party chieftains, and supporters from across the state’s 27 local government areas. The by-election, scheduled for August 16, 2025, follows the unfortunate passing of Hon. Isa Dogonyaro in May 2024.
Governor Namadi praised the APC’s internal democratic process, commending party leaders and members for their maturity and consensus-building during candidate selection. “The unity displayed by our members is a model of responsible leadership,” he said, urging continued prayers and support for the party’s success at the polls.
Hon. Rabiu Muktar, in his acceptance speech, expressed deep gratitude to the governor and stakeholders for the transparent process that led to his emergence. “This is a collective mandate, and I pledge to carry everyone along in our journey to victory,” he stated. Muktar also emphasized his commitment to youth employment and job creation as key priorities if elected.
The APC State Chairman, Aminu Gumel, formally introduced Muktar to the governor before the symbolic flag presentation. Prior to the event, Governor Namadi and his delegation visited several towns—including Doko, Garki, Kargo, and Jigawa Dan Ali—to rally voter support.
