Nottingham Forest Football Club has officially parted ways with head coach Ange Postecoglou following a dismal eight-match winless streak that culminated in a 3-0 home defeat to Chelsea at the City Ground on Saturday.
The club confirmed the decision just 18 minutes after the final whistle, marking one of the swiftest managerial dismissals in Premier League history. Postecoglou, appointed on September 9, lasted only 39 days in charge, making his tenure the shortest permanent managerial reign in the league’s modern era.
“Nottingham Forest Football Club can confirm that after a series of disappointing results and performances, Ange Postecoglou has been relieved of his duties as head coach with immediate effect,” the club stated. “The Club will make no further comment at this time.”
Postecoglou, 60, joined Forest after leading Tottenham Hotspur to Europa League qualification earlier this year. However, his spell at Forest quickly unraveled, with the team managing only two draws and six defeats in his eight matches.
Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis reportedly left his seat during the Chelsea match, signaling the impending decision. The club is now in search of its third manager this season, having previously dismissed Nuno Espirito Santo.
