Former AGF Abubakar Malami Confirms EFCC Invitation, Pledges Full Cooperation and Transparency

Abubakar Malami, SAN, the immediate past Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, today confirmed that he has received an official invitation from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for questioning. In a statement posted on his Facebook page, Malami reaffirmed his commitment to honoring the summons as a law-abiding citizen dedicated to accountability in public service.







The invitation, dated November 24, 2025, requests Malami's appearance at the EFCC headquarters in Abuja on November 28, 2025. While the specific reasons for the summons have not been disclosed by the agency, Malami expressed his readiness to engage fully with the process. "This is to confirm that I have been invited by the EFCC. As a law-abiding and patriotic citizen, I hereby reaffirm my commitment to honour the invitation," Malami stated.







Malami, who served from 2015 to 2023 under President Muhammadu Buhari, highlighted his advocacy for transparency during his tenure. He oversaw key initiatives including asset recovery, anti-corruption reforms, and international legal disputes. "I understand the spirit of accountability and transparency in public service the principles that I both advocate and champion," he added, promising to keep Nigerians informed of developments.







This move underscores the EFCC's ongoing efforts to investigate former officials and promote good governance in Nigeria. Malami's pledge to appear sets a precedent for cooperation with anti-graft agencies.
