The Kwara State Government today updated the public on the status of the 38 freed members of Christ Apostolic Church, Oke Isegun, Eruku, who remain under state-sponsored medical and psychological care following their release from captivity.

The victims endured abduction on November 18, 2025, during a thanksgiving service, where bandits killed three people and injured one. Security forces secured their freedom on November 24, 2025, without ransom payment, through negotiations. Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq announced the release, crediting collaborative efforts.

Currently, the group receives comprehensive support in a secure Ilorin facility. A senior official stated, "They went through trauma, especially the young ones and the elderly. The government wants to give them the best care before returning them home." Evaluations ensure full recovery before family reunions.

Families have spoken with loved ones by phone and confirmed their safety. One relative shared, "We celebrated when we heard they had been released, but since that day, they have not arrived in Eruku. We miss them and want them back home." The government acknowledges these concerns and assures swift reunions post-evaluations.

Governor AbdulRazaq emphasized, "People should commend the government for ensuring the abducted worshippers were freed unhurt. They will soon be reunited with their families." No ransom was paid to deter future crimes.
