Former Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, has categorically denied recent rumours circulating on social media suggesting he is planning to defect from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) or any other political party.
In a statement released today, Badaru described the reports as "false, unfounded, and driven by political mischief." He emphasized that there is no truth to claims that he is engaged in consultations aimed at leaving the APC, a party he helped to establish and has remained committed to throughout his political career.
"My allegiance to the APC is absolute and unwavering," Badaru stated. "I remain a loyal and dedicated member of the party, and I have no intention of defecting to any other political platform. These rumours are nothing more than speculative attempts to create confusion and should not be taken seriously."
Badaru urged APC members, supporters, and the general public to disregard the misleading information and focus on the party's ongoing efforts to advance Nigeria's development. He reiterated his continued support for the APC's ideals and its leadership, pledging to contribute to the party's success in future endeavors.
This clarification comes amid a wave of political speculation following Badaru's resignation from his ministerial position in December 2025 on health grounds. Despite stepping back from active government roles, Badaru affirmed that his dedication to the APC remains steadfast.
