Former Anambra State Governor and Labour Party Presidential Candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, has extended a message of empathy and solidarity to the Fulani community, acknowledging shared experiences of stereotyping and prejudice.

In a recent engagement, Peter Obi addressed concerns raised by members of the Fulani community, stating: “I have suffered stereotypes as an Igbo man and I understand your pain.” He emphasized the need for national unity, mutual understanding, and the rejection of ethnic profiling that has divided Nigerians for far too long.

Obi, known for his advocacy of inclusive governance and issue-based politics, highlighted how negative stereotypes have affected various ethnic groups in Nigeria, including the Igbo and Fulani peoples. He called for dialogue, justice, and equitable treatment of all citizens irrespective of ethnicity or region.

“We must rise above divisive narratives and work together to build a Nigeria where every group feels a true sense of belonging,” Obi said. “The pain of stereotyping is one I have personally experienced, and it is a burden no Nigerian should carry. The Fulani, like every other group, deserve fairness, security, and opportunities to thrive.”

The statement comes amid ongoing national conversations on insecurity, farmer-herder clashes, and ethnic tensions. Obi reiterated his commitment to a reconciled Nigeria where development and security are prioritized over ethnic suspicion.

Supporters and political observers view this as another demonstration of Peter Obi’s consistent message of empathy, bridge-building, and compassionate leadership.
