In a major political development that is reshaping the landscape of Gombe South, renowned businessman and influential political figure, Hon. Jerry Joseph Damara, has officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Damara, Managing Director of Mesotho Group Limited and CEO of Kugbo International Market, made his declaration at the Government House in Gombe, where he presented his APC membership card to Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya. The event was attended by a powerful delegation including three former deputy governors, four local government chairmen, four members of the Gombe State House of Assembly, and other key stakeholders from the Tangale-Waja axis.

“Your Excellency, from today, my loyalty to you and your administration is total. The developmental train you are driving is unstoppable, and I refuse to be left behind,” Damara stated during the ceremony.

He emphasized that his decision followed extensive consultations with elders and political leaders across Gombe South, who collectively resolved to end years of fragmentation and align with the APC’s vision for inclusive governance and sustainable development.

Governor Yahaya hailed the defection as a “historic moment” and a “major political breakthrough” for the APC in Gombe South, noting Damara’s influence and the caliber of leaders accompanying him as a testament to the party’s growing strength.
