In a remarkable show of grassroots solidarity, communities across Anambra State have begun donating substantial funds to support the re-election campaign of Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo and his Deputy, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim, ahead of the November 8 gubernatorial election.
This unprecedented wave of voluntary contributions marks a significant departure from traditional campaign financing models. Rather than receiving financial backing from political candidates, local groups and community leaders are taking the initiative to fund the campaign, citing Soludo’s transformative leadership and development strides across the state.
“This is not just a campaign; it’s a movement,” said a spokesperson from the Soludo campaign team. “The people of Anambra are investing in continuity, in progress, and in a leader who has consistently delivered on his promises.”
The campaign team emphasized that all donations are being transparently managed and documented, with community representatives actively involved in the process. “This is a campaign powered by the people, for the people,” the spokesperson added.
Political analysts view this trend as a paradigm shift in Nigerian electoral culture, where citizens are now choosing to financially empower leaders they believe in, rather than waiting for handouts or inducements.
