Republican Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia announced that she is receiving threats following the public breakdown of her alliance with President Donald Trump. Greene, once considered one of Trump’s most loyal supporters, revealed that the president’s recent rhetoric against her has fueled a wave of hostility and intimidation.
In a statement posted on social media, Greene emphasized that “aggressive rhetoric attacking me has historically led to death threats and multiple convictions of men who were radicalized by the same type of rhetoric being directed at me right now.
This time by the President of the United States.” She added that as a woman, she takes threats from men seriously and now has “a small understanding of the fear and pressure many women face when targeted.”
The feud between Greene and Trump has intensified in recent weeks. Trump publicly withdrew his support for Greene, labeling her a “disgrace” to the Republican Party and signaling he would back a primary challenger against her.
Greene, who previously championed Trump’s agenda, has diverged from him on several issues, including health care funding disputes that contributed to the longest government shutdown in U.S. history and calls for the release of files related to Jeffrey Epstein.
Greene stated that private security firms have contacted her with warnings about her safety, citing a “hot bed of threats” being fueled by Trump’s online attacks. She described the situation as deeply troubling, noting that the president’s influence amplifies the hostility of radical internet trolls.
This development underscores a significant fracture within the MAGA movement, raising questions about the future of Trump’s political coalition and the risks faced by lawmakers who fall out of favor with him.
