The North-Central All Progressives Congress (APC) Forum has strongly condemned the protest staged in Jos against Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, over his possible defection to the APC. The Forum described the protest as undemocratic and contrary to the principles of freedom of association guaranteed under Nigeria’s constitution.

The Forum reiterated its longstanding position that Governor Mutfwang’s defection would bolster the APC’s political strength in Plateau and the wider North-Central region.

Speaking in Abuja, Forum Chairman Saleh Zazzaga noted: “It is undemocratic to stop anybody, including a governor, from joining any political party of their choice. The APC must remain open, inclusive, and welcoming to all who share our vision for development and progress.”

He further stressed that the Forum has consistently advocated for Governor Mutfwang’s defection, citing political analyses and recent developments that favor such a move. According to Zazzaga, the Forum’s advocacy has already yielded significant results, including the push for the establishment of the North-Central Development Commission and the return of the APC National Chairmanship position to the zone.

The North-Central APC Forum called on party stakeholders to prioritize unity, tolerance, and democratic values over factional interests. The Forum emphasized that welcoming Governor Mutfwang would not only strengthen the APC in Plateau but also enhance the party’s national standing.

The North-Central APC Forum is a political advocacy group within the All Progressives Congress, dedicated to promoting the interests of the North-Central region and supporting national policies that advance development, inclusivity, and democratic governance.
