The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Cross River State wishes to acknowledge recent media reports and public commentary concerning the list of stakeholders invited to a consultative meeting with His Excellency, Governor Bassey Edet Otu, held on Saturday.

The meeting, organized to foster greater collaboration between the party leadership, key stakeholders, and the state government, aimed to discuss ongoing development initiatives, party unity, and strategies for continued progress in Cross River State under the leadership of Governor Otu.

We confirm that the published list inadvertently included the names of individuals who are not active or eligible participants at this time. Specifically:

The late Major General Edward Ushie Unimna (rtd.), a respected former military officer who passed away in March 2025, was erroneously listed.

Justice Emmanuel Akomaye Agim, a serving Justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria, was included despite not being an active political stakeholder in the party structure, in line with judicial ethics and separation of powers principles.

Other names, such as Chief Magistrate David Edogi, appeared in the compilation without appropriate verification.

These inclusions resulted from an administrative oversight during the compilation process, which drew from outdated or unverified records.

The APC Cross River State Chapter regrets any confusion, embarrassment, or concern this may have caused to the families involved, the judiciary, the military community, and the general public.

The party has taken immediate steps to:

Withdraw and revise the stakeholder list to ensure accuracy and appropriateness.

Strengthen internal verification protocols for future engagements and publications.

Reaffirm our commitment to transparency, inclusivity, and respect for all institutions and individuals.

Governor Bassey Otu remains focused on delivering good governance, and the APC in Cross River State continues to support his administration in building a stronger, more prosperous state for all citizens.

We appreciate the vigilance of the media and the public in bringing such matters to light, as it helps us maintain high standards of accountability.
