Bauchi State Government Allocates ₦112.7 Billion to Education Sector in 2026 Budget

Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has announced a significant allocation of ₦112.7 billion to the education sector in the 2026 budget, reaffirming the administration’s strong commitment to human capital development and improving access to quality education across the state.


The Governor made the disclosure while highlighting his government’s priorities, noting that education remains a cornerstone for building a skilled and prosperous populace. This substantial investment is part of the state’s broader 2026 Appropriation Bill, which focuses on key social sectors including health and education to drive sustainable growth.


“This allocation underscores our unwavering dedication to transforming the education landscape in Bauchi State,” Governor Mohammed stated. “By investing heavily in this sector, we aim to enhance infrastructure, teacher welfare, and learning outcomes, ultimately empowering our youth to contribute meaningfully to the state’s development.”


The ₦112.7 billion earmarked for education will support critical areas such as school infrastructure upgrades, provision of teaching and learning materials, teacher training and recruitment, as well as initiatives to boost enrollment and retention, particularly in rural communities. 


It aligns with the state’s ongoing efforts to address challenges in basic, secondary, and tertiary education while complementing federal interventions like those from UBEC and SUBEB.


This move positions education as one of the top priorities in the 2026 fiscal year, reflecting the administration’s belief that robust investment in human capital is essential for long-term socio-economic progress in Bauchi State.


Governor Mohammed assured residents that the funds would be judiciously utilized with transparency and accountability, urging all stakeholders.including parents, teachers, and community leaders to collaborate in ensuring the effective implementation of education projects.
