The Kwara State Government has officially flagged off the construction of the Senator Oluremi Tinubu Diagnostic Centre, a landmark project designed to significantly strengthen healthcare delivery and provide residents with access to modern, high-quality diagnostic services.

The project was formally handed over to United Integrated Construction Ltd (UICL) on Tuesday, March 25, 2026, in a ceremony attended by the Honourable Commissioner for Health, Dr. Amina Ahmed El-Imam, the Honourable Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Dr. Segun Ogunshola, and other senior government officials and stakeholders.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Amina Ahmed El-Imam highlighted the critical importance of accurate and timely diagnosis in effective healthcare. “Diagnosis is at the heart of treatment. Without accurate and timely diagnosis, even the best medical interventions can fall short,” she said. “This centre is intended to reverse the trend of residents seeking specialized diagnostic services outside the state and bring those services closer to home.”

The Diagnostic Centre, which will operate as part of the Civil Service Clinic framework upon completion, will be equipped with state-of-the-art laboratory systems and advanced imaging technologies.

It will offer a comprehensive range of routine and specialized diagnostic services to support the early detection and effective management of various health conditions.

Dr. El-Imam added that the project aligns with the AbdulRazaq administration’s commitment to advancing healthcare infrastructure through strategic investments. “By providing advanced diagnostic services locally, the centre will reduce the need for referrals outside the state, save costs and time for residents, and boost confidence in Kwara’s health system,” she noted.

The Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Dr. Segun Ogunshola, assured that the project would be executed to the highest standards. “This project will be executed in accordance with approved specifications.

We are committed to ensuring that what is delivered meets the highest standards in safety, durability, and functionality,” he stated, adding that the project would be closely supervised to meet all timelines.

The representative of the contractor, Mr. Mohammed, expressed gratitude to the Kwara State Government and pledged to deliver the facility within the stipulated timeframe while strictly adhering to quality standards.

This initiative forms part of the state government’s broader efforts to enhance tertiary healthcare services and reduce pressure on existing facilities, complementing other ongoing projects such as the multi-storey Oluremi Tinubu Hospital in Ilorin.

The Kwara State Government remains dedicated to delivering world-class healthcare infrastructure that improves health outcomes and serves the people of Kwara State effectively.
