President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of Sen. Dr. Ibrahim Ida as Chairman of the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) and nominated seven distinguished Nigerians as Federal Commissioners of the National Population Commission (NPC), subject to confirmation by the National Assembly.

The appointments aim to strengthen institutional leadership, enhance regulatory efficiency in corporate governance, and ensure accurate, timely demographic data to support national planning and sustainable development.

Sen. Dr. Ibrahim Ida brings a wealth of experience in finance, law, and public administration to the CAC. He previously represented Katsina Central Senatorial District in the Senate (2017–2019). He holds an MSc in Banking and Finance from the University of Ibadan (1983) and an LLB from the University of Abuja (2003). Prior to his legislative service, he served as Commissioner of Finance in Katsina State and as a Permanent Secretary in the Federal Civil Service.

The seven nominees for appointment as Federal Commissioners of the National Population Commission, representing their respective states, are: Kolawole Oladipupo Alabi Ekiti State, Nasiru Mu’azu Zamfara State, Usman Abubakar Tuggar Bauchi State, Dr. Isaka Alada Yahaya Kwara State, Prof. Sadiq Isah Radda Katsina State, Suleiman Umar Jigawa State, and Hon. Chiso Abdullahi Dattijo Sokoto State

These nominations will complement the existing team of Federal Commissioners at the NPC, bolstering the Commission’s capacity to deliver reliable population and housing statistics critical for policy formulation, resource allocation, and socio-economic development.

The appointments were announced in a statement issued on Monday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

President Tinubu expressed confidence that the appointees will bring professionalism, integrity, and dedication to their roles, advancing the administration’s goals of good governance, economic growth, and effective public service delivery.

He urged the nominees for the NPC to prepare diligently for screening by the National Assembly and called on all stakeholders to support the institutions in fulfilling their mandates.
