Omega Power Ministries (OPM) founder and General Overseer, Apostle Chibuzor Gift Chinyere, today officiated the marriage of a young non-verbal autistic man, affectionately known as Aboy Chibuzor, to an older single woman in a ceremony held at the church premises in Port Harcourt.

The wedding comes just days after a viral video posted on the pastor’s social media platforms sparked widespread public debate. In the video, Apostle Chinyere had appealed for a suitable partner for the autistic young man, who has been under his care for years, offering support including accommodation and other benefits. The post drew significant backlash from online commentators who questioned the approach and raised concerns about its implications.

Following the criticism, the cleric issued a public apology, clarifying his intentions and addressing the concerns raised by members of the public.

Despite the controversy, the wedding proceeded today, March 29, 2026, with the couple exchanging vows in a ceremony witnessed by church members and well-wishers. Photos from the event captured joyful moments as the pastor pronounced the couple husband and wife.

Apostle Chinyere has consistently emphasized his commitment to caring for vulnerable individuals, including orphans and persons with disabilities, through the various humanitarian arms of Omega Power Ministries. He described the union as a step towards providing stability and companionship for the young man.

“This marriage reflects our ongoing dedication to supporting those in our care and finding meaningful ways to ensure their well-being,” a statement from the ministry noted.

Further details about the couple and the ceremony are expected to be shared via the church’s official channels in the coming days.

Omega Power Ministries is a prominent Nigerian church known for its large following and extensive humanitarian initiatives, including feeding programs, education support, and care for the less privileged.
