The Osun State All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship Campaign Council has called on Governor Ademola Adeleke to provide a comprehensive, transparent, and detailed account of the ₦14.9 billion accessed as security votes under his administration.
In a strongly worded statement signed by the Council’s Director-General, Hon. Oluwole Oke, the APC expressed deep concern over the management of these funds and the alleged diversion of state resources and personnel for private interests, amid persistent security challenges across Osun communities.
“Available records indicate that Governor Adeleke has accessed ₦14.9 billion in security votes up till last year,” the statement reads. “Despite this enormous expenditure, the government has not added any meaningful security assets not a single vehicle, motorcycle, or even a bicycle to the operational fleet inherited from the previous APC administration. This raises serious questions about value for money and prudent utilization of public funds.”
The Council further described as “scandalous” claims that the entire ₦14.9 billion was spent solely on operations and honoraria for Osun Amotekun Corps operatives. It questioned how such a substantial sum could be expended without visible improvements in security infrastructure, including surveillance equipment, communication tools, or enhanced patrol capabilities.
Adding to these concerns, the APC highlighted reports of the deployment of dozens of Osun Amotekun operatives to guard a private family business, Pacific Energy Company, located in Omotosho Village along the Benin-Ore Road in Ondo State outside Osun’s territorial jurisdiction. The Council condemned this alleged misuse of state-funded personnel, trained and paid by Osun taxpayers, to protect private commercial interests while local communities continue to face threats from insecurity.
The statement also referenced the tragic death of Amotekun operative Abdullahi Adedeji, who reportedly sustained severe injuries in a motorcycle accident in April 2026 while traveling to a duty post in Ondo State. According to the APC, the operative did not receive adequate medical support, contributing to his untimely death.
Hon. Oluwole Oke emphasized: “The Governor must explain to the people of Osun why operatives of the Osun Amotekun Corps were deployed to protect private business interests belonging to his family outside Osun State, while insecurity continues to threaten lives and livelihoods across our communities. Citizens have a right to know how security-related funds are being utilized and whether they are translating into improved safety.”
The Osun APC Governorship Campaign Council demands an immediate, public, and verifiable breakdown of the ₦14.9 billion security votes, including all expenditures, beneficiaries, and outcomes. It also calls for a thorough probe into the operations and deployment of the Amotekun Corps to ensure that state resources are used solely for the protection of Osun people.
The people of Osun deserve transparency, accountability, and effective governance — especially in matters of security and public finance.
