The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) has formally nominated Oyo State Governor, His Excellency, Engineer Seyi Makinde, as its presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections.

The announcement was made today at a well-attended National Convention of the party held in Ibadan, where delegates from across the country unanimously endorsed Governor Makinde as the party’s standard bearer, citing his proven track record in governance, infrastructural development, and people-centred leadership in Oyo State.

Governor Makinde, while accepting the nomination, expressed gratitude to the party leadership and delegates for the confidence reposed in him.

“I am deeply honoured by this nomination. Today marks the beginning of a new journey for our nation. The APM is committed to offering Nigerians a credible alternative anchored on competence, transparency, and inclusive development. Together, we will build a Nigeria that works for all,” Makinde stated.

Party leaders praised Makinde’s outstanding performance as Governor, particularly in the areas of security, education, health, and road infrastructure, describing him as a “tested and proven leader” capable of delivering at the national level.

The emergence of the Oyo Governor is seen as a significant boost to the opposition ahead of the 2027 polls, positioning the APM as a formidable force capable of challenging the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Stakeholders from various political backgrounds have already begun aligning with the movement, with expectations of major political realignments in the coming months.
