The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has categorically dismissed recent speculations suggesting he is being positioned to contest the 2027 presidential election. In a firm statement released by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, Wike reiterated his unwavering loyalty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his commitment to the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda through 2031.
The statement, issued in Abuja, described the rumours as “another lie from idle minds who have nothing to contribute to the development of the country.” It refuted claims that a faction within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had convened to “push” Wike into the 2027 race, calling the report a failed attempt to drag the Minister into unnecessary political controversy.
“As far as Wike is concerned, it is President Bola Ahmed Tinubu till 2031,” Olayinka declared. “He has made his stand clear. He is not running for president and is fully committed to delivering the Renewed Hope Agenda of the President in the FCT.”
The Minister’s team emphasized that Wike is focused on his current responsibilities and has no intention of engaging in political distractions. “Wike does not function in hiding. He does what he says and says what he does,” the statement read, underscoring his reputation for transparency and directness.
